Santa Fe, April 1, 2020 -In light of the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency, the City is following suit with the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing department and is increasing protections for the Public as well as the City of Santa Fe employees with regard to building inspections. Effective immediately the City is implementing the following mandatory social distancing requirements for all field inspections conducted by inspectors:

  1. Residential Inspections:   When conducting an inspection of an existing residence where the inspector is required to physically enter the residence, all individuals must vacate the area of the residence where the inspection shall occur before the inspection can begin. No individual will be permitted to enter or remain within the residence area being inspected while the inspector is physically within the residence. For the purposes of this directive, a minimum distance of twenty (20) feet of separation from the area where the inspection is taking place must be maintained by any individuals at the construction area while the inspector is on-site and conducting an inspection.

Non-Compliance: Inspections shall be immediately halted in the event individuals at the inspection site refuse to comply with the provisions of this directive. Inspections for sites where non-compliance with the provisions of this directive occur will be rescheduled at a time/date when the customer can guarantee compliance with the provisions of this directive.
