October 10 - 12, 2025

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Join rising star artist Diego Medina for a free mural-making workshop where you can explore your creativity, hang out with other teen artists, and learn from a featured artist in the 12th SITE SANTA FE International.

The workshop runs October 10–12, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at the Santa Fe Teen Center. Drop in for an hour or stay all weekend—no experience needed.

Teens will dive into the history and impact of the Transcendental Painting Group, with a special focus on Agnes Pelton. Learn how TPG artists used color, shape, light, and composition to balance abstraction with representation and create spiritually charged works.

Then, you’ll have the chance to create your own large-scale landscape painting, using these techniques to explore your own connection to place and environment.

Snacks provided! Don’t miss this chance to pick up a brush, make art, and connect with the Santa Fe teen arts community.

Learn More About the Teen Center

The Santa Fe Teen Center is the result of over a decade of community advocacy. Santa Fe teens, families, and residents have provided input into the newly opened Teen Center. Information from the 2015 and 2017 City of Santa Fe Youth Summits and a 2019 study conducted by the non-profit organization Earth Care provided youth-led input and data that paved the way to funding and developing this one-of-a-kind resource specifically for teens.

In 2019, the City of Santa Fe received funding from the state for $1,100,000 to begin planning and designing the new Teen Center. The city has invested $5,000,000.00 and the state $6,815,000.00 into the brand new 17,000 sq ft. facility that will provide a gym, outdoor courtyard, multiple multi-purpose rooms, full kitchen, a shower and washer and dryer, performance space, game room, and computer and technology equipment for the benefit of teens in Santa Fe.

The teen center is designed to be a welcoming, engaging, and youth-led space where teens can explore new opportunities, implement programs, and develop an interest in personal growth and youth development. It is a safe and fun space to socialize and participate in physical and enrichment activities. Through thoughtful programming, we strive to provide services to teens who need support to develop the individual for success in their adult lives. The teen center is a space to work on homework, play video games, read in the quiet area, learn or enhance essential life skills, participate in themed events, and create works of art. We look to partner with community organizations and local businesses to produce a robust range of services designed to meet the needs of all Santa Fe teens. The Teen Center is free to all teens ages 12-18 who register to use the facility. Our future is in their hands!
