Hazard Information
The geographic area in which Santa Fe is located contains a number of natural and man-made hazards of sufficient likelihood of occurrence, all of which factor in to emergency planning and the development of emergency response capabilities. As part of the City’s Hazard Mitigation Plan revision, the following six hazards were identified as the most significant hazards facing our City:
- Wildland/Urban Interface fire
- Flooding
- Severe weather to include extreme heat, extreme cold, and winter storms
- Drought
- Human-caused hazards to include terrorism, hazardous materials incidents, and transportation accidents
- Space weather as it impacts communications
