Land Use Department Launches Citizen Self Service Portal-Available for Short Term Rental Applications
SANTA FE, January 6, 2020— Starting January 6, 2020, Short Term Rental (STR) Applicants will be able to apply online through the Citizen Self Service (CSS) Portal. CSS is a customer facing portal that provides constituents with online access to the Land Use Department’s applications and information. With a CSS account, owners or property managers can fill out new STR applications, upload supporting documents, and receive invoices all online, from the comfort and convenience of home or office.
The CSS portal is part of a continued effort to modernize our practices and improve customer service by providing residents with the latest online tools and technology. Over the coming year we plan to expand CSS public access to include applications for permitting and business licensing.

City of Santa Fe Short Term Rentals

A short-term rental or vacation rental is any dwelling unit rented for less than 30 calendar days. All short-term rentals are required to obtain a Business Registration, a Short-Term Rental Permit or Registration and comply with all the provisions of the city code § 14-6.2(A) SFCC 1987 & § 14-6.2(A) SFCC 2016-20. 

  • A Permit is required when the Short-Term Rental unit is located within a Residential zoned area.
  • A Registration is required when the Short-Term Rental unit is located in a Non-Residential zoned area.

HOW TO GET A PERMIT FOR SHORT TERM RENTALS

The first step to obtain a Short-Term Rental Permit is to complete an application.  As part of that application you will be required to notify the neighbors located within 200 feet of the short term rental.
