Mission
The mission of the Risk Management & Safety Division is to assure the safety and health of City of Santa Fe employees and the public. By developing, implementing, and continually improving programs that provide training, technical guidance, and support while adhering to federal and state regulations; we empower our employees to protect themselves and the public from harm.
This is accomplished by providing fiscally sound loss prevention and loss management programs that protect against any adverse impact on the City’s financial stability. By planning for contingencies, providing prudent insurance coverage, and analyzing losses, we provide management and employees the opportunities to continually seek ways to improve the safety culture of the City of Santa Fe.
The mission of Safety is to miantain a safe and healthy workplace for all employees in compliance with all applicable law and regulations. Promote positive attitude towards safety, establish safety and health objectives for all levels of managment and employees. Provide information, education, and training in the field of health and safety to protect our most valuable asset--our employees.
Risk and Safety Oversees:
Workers' Compensation and Personal Injury
Manage an effective program to reduce claims, medical fees, settlements, lost work time and premiums.
Develop and Implement Safety Programs and Policies
Comply with OSHA, City, Federal, State regulations, etc. Make recommendations to departments/divisions on procedure changes, rules and regulations to ensure a safe work environment. Conduct job safety analyses.
Training and Compliance
Comply with Federal and State training requirements in defensive driving, pathogens and various other types of training related to workplace safety.

Investigations
Conduct personnel and equipment investigations; prepare reports to comply with OSHA and all safety regulations.
Drug/Alcohol Program
The City of Santa Fe is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace to promote both the quality of its services and the safety of its employees, its customers and the public (currently being overseen by Human Resources)
General Liability-Tort Claims Act
Manage an effective program to reduce claims, expense settlements, and premiums.
Insurance Program for self Insured
Manage an effective program to reduce premiums yearly. Risk assessments to be preventative and compliant
