Wrist Watch Could Solve Armed Robbery

Detectives hope it’s only a matter of time before someone recognizes a distinctive watch donned by a particularly violent armed robber and turns the suspect in.

Friday, August 9, 2013 just before 8 p.m. a man hiding behind a ski mask and gloves held two female employees of the Sprint store on the 3700 block of Cerrillos Road at gunpoint and stole all the cash inside.

The victims say he threatened their lives multiple times, and they were visibly shaken when police arrived.

Today Santa Fe Police are releasing surveillance video of the crime, hoping to gather leads in the case.

Detectives would like residents to focus on a large black watch seen on the suspect’s left wrist. They aren’t sure of the brand but believe it’s some sort of diver’s watch and has a large black face with red markings.

The two female employees ages 25 and 22 describe the suspect as a Hispanic man about 5’7”, with light brown eyes, wearing a dark blue shirt, dark pants, tan gloves and a ski mask.

He fled with an undisclosed amount of money. He did not take any cell phones.

Police would like to catch this man before he becomes more violent. If you know who he is please call SFPD at (505) 428-3710 or SF Crime Stoppers at (505) 955-5050. There is a reward for tips leading to an arrest in this case.
