What If Wishes Grew On Trees? What If You Could Pick One and Make It Come True?

Christmas Tree Forest At DeVargas Mall, Saturday Nov. 30, To Benefit Children, Support Small Business Saturday

This year a forest of Christmas trees will spring up at DeVargas Mall in a special effort to brighten the days for local children who are homeless or in foster care. The Santa Fe Fire Department, Opulent and the DeVargas Mall will be setting up a forest of trees, decorated with the children’s wishes, none of which costs more than $50. Visitors can choose a tag, and fulfill the wish of a needy child while shopping at a local business. Twenty participating businesses and organizations will decorate a tree and will be responsible for any tags that are not taken from the tree.

Santa Fe Firefighters are spearheading this effort, because so often our front-line first responders are the ones who see the need and the hurt in children who would otherwise have a cheerless holiday season without any family.

WHY: To share with less fortunate children, many of whom through no fault of their own are spending the holidays without family. And to support our small businesses and create a real sense of community.

HOW: Each business provides a tree decorated with tags; each tag is a gift a child has wished for, under $50
