Applications Due June 11. The Santa Fe Veterans Advisory Board (VAB) is now seeking candidates to fill three (3) vacancies. Applicants must live in Santa Fe County and can include persons who are not veterans but who are interested specifically in veterans’ issues and have expertise in the VAB areas of focus. The current board is focused on education, veteran homelessness, prevention services, and community events. Board service is voluntary and there is no compensation.
To the greatest extent possible the Board shall include representation from:
- The business community;
- A mental health provider;
- A homeless services provider;
- A local housing service provider;
- A medical services provider;
- An outdoors-oriented non-profit;
- Animal-oriented non-profit;
- Or other relevant programs.
The Veterans Advisory Board was established in 2015 by a resolution and is a nine (9) member board. Board members address matters affecting local veterans, propose solutions to meet the needs of local veterans, and recognize the contributions of local veterans. It is one of three Veterans Advisory boards in the state.
The VAB meets virtually (for now) on the third Wednesday of each month from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.
