Santa Fe Occupancy Tax Advisory Board (O.T.A.B) Grant Makers Forum Announced

The Santa Fe Convention & Visitors Bureau in partnership with the Santa Fe Arts Commission and the Santa Fe Community Foundation will be holding a Grant Makers Forum on December 9, 2013.  The forum is being held to inform nonprofits interested in applying for O.T.A.B. grant funding in 2014 about the best practices for completing a wining grant proposal, the review process and requirements for funding eligibility.

In 2012 the Santa Fe City Council passed a resolution that set the goals of providing funding for marketing efforts to new events in the off-season or shoulder season.  The Funding and planning of the events shall be public/private partnerships that seek to attract tourists younger than 56 and that are on message with Santa Fe's overall marketing effort as demonstrated by the Santa Fe Convention and Visitors Bureau.   The events shall exhibit potential to build national excitement, recognition of happenings and brand assets that support creative and cultural tourism in Santa Fe, including but not limited to culture, art, history, food, natural beauty and outdoor activities.  Activities shall be integrated with other local destination marketing organizations (DMOs) and demonstrate sustainability beyond the funded period. The objective of the council was to add five off season weeks to the tourism calendar that will bring in a total of $10 million in new annual revenue.

In 2013, new grant guidelines were established in keeping with the council directive and under those guidelines $31,000 has been awarded this year.

The forum is being held on December 9, 2013 at 3:00 pm in the Nambe room of the Santa Fe Community Convention Center.  Nonprofits interested in attending the forum should RSVP to [bot protected email address] or phone 505.955.6214.

The online application form for grant funding is found at www.santafe.org under the link marked OTAB Form.
