New City Asset Development Manager

City Brings on Former State of New Mexico Commercial Real Estate Official Terry Lease to Lead Asset Development Initiatives

The City of Santa Fe Office of Community & Economic Development welcomed Terry Lease to the position of Asset Development Manager in August, 2021. The re-booted department will oversee the identification and review of underutilized City-owned assets that may be leased or sold to spur development of more housing units, commercial space, or other projects in line with the City’s goals for post-pandemic recovery and long-term resilience.

Lease, who raised his family in Santa Fe, brings to the position a strong background of leadership and strategy in commercial real estate sales, leasing, appraisal, development, and portfolio management with Santa Fe County and the State of New Mexico’s General Services division, as well as out-of-state experience in real estate brokerage and appraisal.

“I’m quite happy to be back in Santa Fe, and especially happy to be working in service of making this city the best it can be for all Santa Feans,” says Lease. “I’m looking forward to finding opportunities to maximize our assets for public benefit.”

Rich Brown, director of the Office of Community and Economic Development, says Lease’s experience in public facilities assessment and management, along with his collaborations with state and local government, will bolster the City’s capacity to move forward with exciting development projects that improve quality of life and expand opportunities for all New Mexicans.

“As we move further into economic recovery and building a more resilient city, our asset development department will be critical in helping us meet many of those goals,” says Brown. “Terry’s experience, and his connections to and love for Santa Fe, make him an ideal choice to lead those efforts.”

Lease will work closely with Assistant City Attorney Andrea Salazar and the Governing Body on legal and procedural matters relating to property disposition.
