Mayor Signs Emergency Proclamation V – COVID-19

Closing playing courts, athletic fields, playground equipment, and park infrastructure

To help protect Santa Fe residents and visitors during the surge in COVID-19 virus cases, the City of Santa Fe is taking additional steps to stop the spread of COVID-19.  The Mayor has extended restrictions through November 30, 2020, by ordering all “Outdoor Recreational Facilities to close.”

Effective immediately the City has closed playground equipment, all sports courts including basketball and handball courts, skate parks, and athletic fields.

Outdoor trails and areas without courts, equipment or infrastructure are still open to the public with the existing limitations on mass gatherings in place.  Dog parks also remain open under these orders.

“Unfortunately, residents continue to gather in the City’s parks to use sports courts and equipment, playgrounds, and other recreational infrastructure. The bad news is that too many are not wearing a face covering or socially distancing. We need to do everything we can to stop the spread of COVID-19,” said Mayor Webber.

The restrictions coordinate with the State Public Health Order that is already in place that closes all sports courts and facilities including golf courses, tennis courts, and State Parks to slow the threat of transmission of Covid-19.

Please remember to wear your face covering, wash your hands often, and socially distance.
