Seeking Members for the Santa Fe Immigration Committee

The City of Santa Fe is looking for individuals who care about immigration issues to join the Immigration Committee. Resolution 1999-6 declare a policy of non-discrimination based on a person’s national origin and for the City of Santa Fe be a community, where all persons will be treated equally, with respect and dignity, regardless of immigration status.
The committee shall monitor the human rights status of non- citizens residing in the City of Santa Fe and report its findings and recommendations to the governing body. The committee shall meet as necessary to accomplish its purpose and shall follow adopted the city policy and procedures.
The committee consists of nine (9) representatives. Members shall reside in the county of Santa Fe and selected from the following areas: Human rights, social services, the business community, health care, labor organizations, religious community, youth services providers, women’s advocacy groups, educators, and legal services. The mayor shall appoint the chairperson and the committee shall designate the vice-chairperson. The members shall serve two years. The committee members shall serve at the pleasure of the mayor and may be removed at any time, with or without cause.
There are currently three (3) vacant seats. The Committee meets the first Tuesday of every month from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm (date and time are subject to change.)
