Honoring Officer Duran on March 12

On behalf of the family of Officer Robert Duran, the City of Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Police Department invite members of the public, our media partners, state, local, and community leaders, and all active and retired public safety professionals to attend the Memorial Service and find other ways to honor the life and service of Officer Duran, who died in the line of duty on March 2, 2022.

A Memorial Service will be held tomorrow, Saturday, March 12, at the Rio Rancho Events Center located at 3001 Civic Center Cir NE, Rio Rancho. The Center will open at 12:00 P.M. for the public. The Memorial Service will start promptly at 1:00 P.M. and is anticipated to conclude at approximately 2:50 P.M.

For Santa Feans traveling to the Memorial Service, the New Mexico Department of Transportation has confirmed no road construction is scheduled to occur on southbound Interstate 25 near San Felipe Pueblo.

Following the service, a procession will depart from the Rio Rancho Event Center to Berardinelli Funeral Home at 1399 Luisa St., in Santa Fe. Participants are welcome to follow behind the procession.

The procession is estimated to arrive in Santa Fe at approximately 3:50 P.M., depending on the conclusion time of the Memorial Service and traffic. The procession route will be Interstate 25 onto northbound St. Francis Drive, up to Alta Vista Street, and conclude at Luisa Street. No further services or events will follow the arrival at Berardinelli Funeral Home.

Community members in Santa Fe are welcomed and encouraged to view the procession as it travels north on St. Francis Drive and Alta Vista; they may wish to display signs, flags, flowers, or other appropriate signs of respect, remembrance, and support. We request community members to not park on the roadway and to view from a safe distance along the route. The parking lot at Salvador Perez Park is on the route, near the destination, and has ample space on sidewalks for participants.

All three branches of the Santa Fe Public Library system will present the Memorial Service for Senior Police Officer Robert Duran. The memorial service will be streamed live in the public meeting rooms of the La Farge, Main, and Southside locations on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. The live broadcast of the service is open to the public. For more information, call any of the Library branches or email santafelibrary.org.
