Santa and Mrs. Claus's make their appearance around 4:00 p.m. in true Santa Fe style as the Clauses are transported to the Plaza on a vintage fire truck, which heralds their arrival with its siren sounding.
Volunteers will begin lighting farolitos at 4:30 p.m., which will illuminate the Plaza until the main event begins at 6:30 p.m., presided over by Mayor Alan Webber, City Councilors, and other dignitaries. City crews have spent weeks stringing 10,000 lights in trees along with mini-lights around the Gazebo. Blow up penguins, snowmen, and polar bears are scattered throughout the Plaza for the event. Join the crowd and count down in unison to the flip of the main switch that illuminates every light at the same time.
