GCCC Recreational Center Expands Access and Hours Starting 2/1

 

COVID-Safe Practices Remain the Priority

The City of Santa will increase recreational and fitness capacity at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center starting Monday February 1, 2021. In step one of the expansion program, swimming access will increase from 10 to 18 lanes each hour. Access to fitness facilities will increase from 10 to 25 participants per hour. 

In step two of the plan, hours of operation will increase and the facility will be open seven days a week, beginning Monday February 8, 2021. Swimming and fitness will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 

Rec on Wheels and Community Tutors will maintain the regular after-school schedule starting at 3:30 p.m. weekdays.

The ice arena remains closed per public health orders.

COVID-safe practices will be observed at all times by employees and guests.

“During this pandemic my team was able to safely open and provide limited services. We are thrilled to now expand services to serve more of our residents. As before, please bring your water bottles and shower before you get in the pool and strictly follow safety protocols,” said Recreation Director John Muñoz.
