Farolito Fest Goes COVID-safe: Cruising, Not Strolling

The City will continue the traditional Christmas Eve Farolito Walk this year in a COVID-safe way that’s steeped in local flavor -- a cruise up Canyon Rd. in the family car. Residents will be able to enjoy the festivity of farolitos lining the lane and lighting the way. The event will be closed to pedestrian traffic.

Vehicles will approach the area on Paseo de Peralta, pass through a Police post at the intersection with Acequia Madre, then turn right onto Canyon Rd. to cruise up the historic lane, and exit at the Camino Cabra. Side streets intersecting Canyon Rd. will be blocked.

The Canyon Road Association has been supportive of continuing this tradition and we are grateful for their participation and enthusiasm to keep our traditions alive in a COVID-safe way.

Cruise traffic will start at 5:15 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m. Residents should expect delays.
