Santa Fe, NM – Do you live in city of Santa Fe? If so, the community needs your help! The City of Santa Fe is conducting a study to better understand residents’ housing decisions and their experiences living, working or going to school in the city. Your answers to the Santa Fe Resident Survey will inform an assessment of fair housing and access to opportunity—the Assessment of Fair Housing. Survey topics include:
- The factors that were most important to you when you chose to buy or rent your current home; and
- Your experience trying to find a place to rent or buy in Santa Fe, including your experience with housing discrimination.
Asking residents for their feedback, Mayor Javier M. Gonzales said, “Access to housing is one of our biggest challenges, and while we’ve taken steps to boost our affordable housing fund and encourage building of affordable units, we have to keep working. This survey is a major component of that broader undertaking.”
Alex Ladd, Director of the City’s Affordable Housing Office, said, “We will thoroughly analyze data from a variety of sources about our community, but we believe our residents have a story to tell, and we want to hear it. Participating in the survey is a great way for people who live in Santa Fe to identify public and private sector factors that may create barriers to housing choice and access to opportunity for all our residents.”
The Assessment of Fair Housing informs local goals to address fair housing issues raised by the research. Links to the Santa Fe Resident Survey can be found here (available in English and Spanish):
