Police cars lined the streets of Airport Road Thursday, August 15, 2013 to honor Santa Fe Police Sergeant Russell Gunn’s retirement. Sgt. Gunn is a 24 year veteran of the department who served on the SWAT Team, as a Sergeant on the Crime Prevention Unit and a Patrol Sergeant.
“Sergeant Gunn will be greatly missed,” said Santa Fe Police Chief Raymond Rael. “He was well-respected by all of his peers and gave this job everything he had for more than two decades. We congratulate him on his retirement and bless him in future endeavors.”
Besides a farewell ride through the streets of Santa Fe, the bomb squad also performed an honorary detonation for the sergeant at the city’s firing range. Sgt. Gunn’s family from throughout the country also made a surprise appearance at his goodbye luncheon! It was a touching sight to see how many people love and respect this civil servant.
