City to License MX Track to Private Company for Lone Ranger Launch
SANTA FE, NM – The City of Santa Fe will license the Buckman Track ATV/MX Park to a company representing Kawasaki as part of the Disney press launch of the film The Lone Ranger. The License will run from June 17, 2013 through June 21, 2013 and the arrangement includes substantial private insurance coverage. Kawasaki will be using professional drivers to take members of the press and other guests on side-by-side rides as part of their experience in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico. This will be a short-term license through a private company and the Buckman Track ATV/MX Park remains closed to the public.
The City of Santa Fe is working to reopen the Buckman Track ATV/MX Park and has hired Great Outdoors, an independent company, to assess the track and provide a preliminary schematic design that should provide for safer recreational activity. The City of Santa Fe closed the Buckman Track ATV/MX Park this past winter when questions arose regarding the insurance coverage.
The press launch of The Lone Ranger is expected to bring more than three-hundred national and international journalists to Santa Fe during the week of June 17. The City of Santa Fe Convention and Visitors’ Bureau and the Economic Development Division have worked to welcome the visitors and business sponsors for the event which will bring substantial exposure and a significant number of people to Santa Fe.
