City of Santa Fe Launches New Website Making it Easier for the

Community to Access Information and Easily Connect with City Staff

The City of Santa Fe, in conjunction with Santa Fe-based Desert Elements Design, has launched a new website that will make it easier for the community to access information and reports, apply for jobs, pay bills online, submit proposals for City contracts, and view public information such as the City checkbook and employee salaries.

“We’re excited to announce the launch of our brand new website. Take a look around. You’ll notice new content, better navigation, more photos, new features and videos, and yes, a whole new look and feel,” said Jodi McGinnis Porter, Public Information/Multimedia Administrator. “The City needed to overhaul its web presence, so we worked with a local company, Desert Elements Design to build a website that is really useful to the community and truly streamlined for all departments of the City.”

The newly launched website has a number of new or enhanced features and functionality for Santa Fe residents, businesses, and visitors:

  • A new tool for vendors to the City allows businesses and individuals to easily submit proposals directly to the Purchasing Department in response to online RFP and bid solicitations.

  • A new Human Resources tool offers applicants an easy-to-use online job application format and allows the City to better manage job applications.

  • The Sunshine Transparency Tool gives the community access to view the City’s checkbooks, contracts, salaries and more.

  • The new mobile version of the website means residents can quickly access pertinent information easily on a smaller screen, while City staff can update CRM tasks from the field, improving their ability to respond to residents’ concerns.

Phase II of the website includes a Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) tool, allowing residents to connect with City employees to make requests and reports, and then track responses and actions taken.

“Our team has worked hard to create a tool that will serve the people of Santa Fe for a long time to come. We focused on making this a site that the City of Santa Fe can easily expand with content and interactive features, needing little assistance from us—something that’s truly customized and able to grow with the City’s changing needs,” says Molly Duncan; President and Creative Director of Desert Elements Design. “The upfront cost is balanced by reduced maintenance needs with this kind of customization. Plus, there’s no licensing or subscription fee involved as there was in the past. This website is open source, non-proprietary, and is owned in its entirety by the City of Santa Fe—the most notable benefit over the previous website.”

In addition to the new features, residents will continue to access an E-services portal to pay utility bills online and renew business licenses among other things, but now in a consolidated, current, and easy-to-use format.
