City of Santa Business Offices Closed Thursday and Friday, November 28-29, 2013 for Thanksgiving

Holiday Activities on the Plaza begin at 3:30 pm Tree Lighting at 6:00 pm

City of Santa Fe offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 28-29, 2013 in observance of Thanksgiving.

Trash and recycling services will be picked up on Thursday and Friday.

Santa Fe Trails bus service will not operate Thursday, November 28, 2013, however will resume on Friday, November 29, 2013 on their Saturday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Parking Facilities and street parking meters will be free in observation of the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. However, Friday, November 29, 2013 they will all be on normal operating hours and fees will apply.

Recreation Centers owned by the City of Santa Fe will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 28-29, 2013.

The Buckman Road Recycling & Transfer Station and Caja del Rio Landfill will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and will reopen on Friday, November 29, 2013.  For more information, please call Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency at 424-1850 or go to www.SantaFeRecycling.org.

Annual Holiday Tree Lighting will take place on the plaza, Friday, November 29, 2013, with entertainment beginning at 3:30 pm; the actual lighting will be at 6 pm.

The Girl Scouts will be out selling cookies and hot chocolate and some of them will take the stage at 3:30 pm to sing Christmas carols. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on the plaza at approximately 4 pm. via the vintage fire truck.

At 4:10 pm, Santa Fe Brass will provide entertainment until 5 pm and then Bo Brown will take over from 5 – 5:45 pm providing Christmas entertainment. At 5:45 pm dignitaries such as the Mayor, City Manager, and City Councilors will be on hand until the countdown begins at 6 pm. After the lights are on and everyone exits the stage, local band, Sol Fire will perform for about an hour depending on the weather.
