City Launches Southside Summer to Promote Packed Calendar of Summer Events Outside Downtown

Partnering with Community Groups and Businesses to Create Family-Friendly Fun

Santa Fe, NM—The City of Santa Fe’s Southside Summer is bringing music, performance, block parties, swimming, movies and more to the city’s Southside May through August. The program will also highlight and promote a busy summer calendar of events outside of downtown.

The City’s Arts Commission and Parks and Recreation staff are also working in partnership with community organizations to produce at least eight Feature Events.

Mayor Alan Webber said, “We already have wonderful events happening downtown. Many of our families live south of St. Michael’s; Southside Summer is about bringing family entertainment to their doorstep and bringing Santa Feans together. We don’t do that often enough, but when we do, it helps us feel more connected to one another.”

Feature Events:

May 25th: School’s Out! Celebration
at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center. Free Disco Skate, Family Swim Night and Movie. Food concessions for sale on site.

June 24th: Sunday Morning Lowrider Cruise, co-hosted by Meow Wolf, with all-day Block Party.

July 4th: Independence Day Celebration brings fireworks and food trucks to Santa Fe Place Mall, co-hosted by the Kiwanis Club.

July 20th: ¡Mexico Hoy! is a celebration of Mexican culture co-hosted by the Center for Contemporary Arts at the Southside Library and the Boys and Girls Club.

August 25th: Back to School Fiesta, time and place TBD.

The City will also host three Movie Nights on Friday nights at SWAN Park. Through the City’s @SantaFeGov social media accounts, the public will have a chance to vote via social media for at least one of the movies that will be shown.
