Christmas Tree Recycling Options

Free Drop-offs, No Collections

Christmas Tree Recycling Options

Residents of Santa Fe have two temporary options for recycling Christmas trees free of charge. There will be no curbside collections of Christmas trees.

The City will be accepting Christmas trees for mulching starting on January 4, 2021, through January 29, 2021. Residents in the City of Santa Fe can drop off their unflocked and ornament-free tree at:

Franklin Miles Park
1027 Camino Carlos Rey (at Siringo Road)
Park hours: 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

For more information call Jessie Esparza at (505) 955-2106.

The Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station (BuRRT) will accept Christmas trees from Santa Fe residents for free until January 17, 2021.

Trees must be free from all lights, decorations, ornaments, tinsels, wires, stands, and artificial snow.

Trees must be tied down and secured properly during transport.

BuRRT’s operating hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., seven days a week.

Trees will be recycled into mulch or compost. Mulch is available at BuRRT for free throughout the year for anyone loading it themselves.

Residents should consider donating unwanted lights, decorations and ornaments in good condition to a thrift store, as they do not belong in your curbside recycling cart.

For more information call Rosalie Cardenas at (505) 424-1850, ext. 150.
