Call For New Santa Fe Poet Laureate
The City of Santa Fe Arts Commission is accepting nominations and submissions for the new Santa Fe Poet Laureate. The deadline for submissions is March 17.
The Poet Laureate will undertake a variety of activities to foster arts learning, community building, and integration of poetry into civic ceremony. In addition to reading works at public events, the Poet Laureate will undertake a special project, event or initiative to raise the visibility of poetry in the community, for example organizing readings, creating poetry workshops for the public, or developing learning opportunities for youth in or out of school.
The Poet Laureate is a two-year honorary position with a $5,000 per year honorarium. Any individual living in Santa Fe County may nominate a poet for consideration.
Potential candidates will be current residents of Santa Fe and must have resided in Santa Fe County for the past three years.
Full information about eligibility, nomination and submission requirements is available at or contact the Arts Commission at [bot protected email address] or 955-6707.
By honoring a talented and dedicated poet in this public way, the Commission envisions the Poet Laureate as one who will find ways to weave the poetic arts even more widely into the fabric of Santa Fe life.
