City’s Partnership with Guadalupe Credit Union Teaching Kids About Entrepreneurship
Dozens of Santa Fe kids in the City’s Summer Youth Program have spent this summer learning about business in the best way – by starting their own companies – and their work will be on display at the first ever BizKids Business Fair this Wednesday at the Genoveva Chavez Center.
Parents, friends, family, and the local business community are all invited to see the results of the first year of a new program to teach kids skills they can use through first-hand experience.
Mayor Javier Gonzales said, “I can’t wait to see the businesses these kids have developed! Startups and entrepreneurs are driving the next wave of innovation and success in Santa Fe – from technology and art to culinary innovation and film. Teaching these skills now in a fun, hands-on way is an investment in Santa Fe’s future and in these local kids, and takes what was already a strong summer youth program from the City’s Community Services division to a whole new level.”
Young people in the program this year learned how to create a business from the ground up, including a business plan, budgeting, marketing and more business basics.
The flyer for the event is below and attached. It will run from 9:00am – 11:00 am at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center’s Community Room.
