The Genoveva Chavez Community Center (GCCC) is pleased to offer courses in the Alexander Technique. The Alexander Technique is a natural method of movement re-education. The technique teaches the ability to improve physical postural habits, particularly those that have become ingrained and conditioned responses.
The instructor, Marta Curbelo, is certified by the American Society for the Alexander Technique and The American Center for the Alexander Technique (ACAT), Inc. She has been teaching since 1987 and has conducted workshops and taught private students in the United States and abroad. Ms. Curbelo is a Senior Teacher on the faculty of ACAT in New York City.
These pre-registration courses will run on Tuesdays from January 7, through January 21, 2014. The first course meets from 12:00pm-1:15pm and the second course meets from 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. Space is limited. The fee is $30 per course. Please come to the GCCC, at 3221 Rodeo Rd, to register
Triple Threat Indoor Soccer Tournament
The GCCC will also be hosting its Triple Threat 3 on 3 Indoor Soccer Tournament on Saturday, January 4, 2014. The tournament will feature fast paced indoor soccer games competing for the tournament championship. Games begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and conclude by 8:00 p.m. Come support our local athletes; a $2 spectator fee will be required. The basketball gymnasium will not be available for recreation play during this time.
