Abused Rooster Found in Dumpster

Animal Services Officers are trying to identify the person responsible for binding a rooster’s feet together and tossing him out with the trash.

Tuesday, July 30, 2013 just after 8:30 a.m. Animal Services Officers responded to a call on the 2800 Block of Cerrillos Road (Coronado Condos). Witnesses advised they could hear a bird crowing and found the rooster with his feet shackled together. He was tossed near the condo’s dumpster and unable to move. The shackles were made out of little wire rings.

Further examination shows the rooster is very thin, bruised, and has badly injured legs and multiple broken feathers.

Police are trying to track down the person responsible for the abuse. They could face neglect and animal cruelty charges.

Anyone with information is asked to call SFPD at (505) 428-3710 or Animal Services at (505) 955-2700.
