2019 Santa Fe Heritage Preservation Award Winners Announced

In honor of the 47th annual celebration of New Mexico Heritage Preservation Month, the City of Santa Fe will once again partner with the Historic Santa Fe Foundation and the Old Santa Fe Association to present the 2019 Santa Fe Heritage Preservation Awards. The awards are selected by the City’s Historic Districts Review Board, Archaeological Review Committee, Mayor Alan Webber, and the boards of the Old Santa Fe Association and Historic Santa Fe Foundation, in recognition of outstanding achievements in historic preservation, architectural design, and archaeology. This year’s awards ceremony will take place at San Miguel Chapel on May 16th at 5:30pm, with a reception to follow at El Zaguan, 545 Canyon Road. The winners of the 2019 Santa Fe Heritage Preservation Awards are as follows:

Architectural Preservation Award (Non-residential): 808 Canyon Road (El Farol)

Recipients: Richard Freedman; Max and Freda Scott; Dale Zinn and Associates Architects; and John Clemens, Coyote Construction

 

Architectural Preservation Award (Residential):  501 & 503 Webber Street

Recipients: Dr. Ross Hall and Ju M. Tan

 

Compatible Remodel Award (Non-residential): 101 West Alameda Street (Del Charro)

Recipients:  Inn of the Governors and Eric Enfield, Architectural Alliance Inc.

               

Compatible Remodel Award (Residential): 827 East Alameda Street

Recipients: Rachele Griego and Andrew Gough

 

Compatible New Construction Award: 164 East Houghton Street

Recipients: Gay Langford, Jeff Langford, and Andy Lyons Design and Drafting LLC

 

Sara Melton Award for Sensitive Maintenance and Rehabilitation: 345 & 345 ½ Plaza Balentine

Recipients: Jennifer Berkley and Alan Jones

Archaeology Award:                                                                                          

 

Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Heritage Preservation:                            

Recipients: Regis Pecos, Melissa Mascareñas, Thomas Baca-Gutierrez, and Archbishop John Wester, for their roles in negotiating reconciliation around the retirement of the Entrada

 

City of Santa Fe Service Awards:                                                                      

Meghan Bayer (former HDRB member), Edmund Boniface (former HDRB member), William Powell (former HDRB member), Tess Monahan (former ARC member), David Rasch (former City Historic Preservation Planner Supervisor), and Carl Boaz (City Stenographer)

Old Santa Fe Association Cultural Preservation Award:  Regis Pecos

Old Santa Fe Association Sara Melton Community Service Award: Beverly Spears

Historic Santa Fe Foundation Architectural Stewardship Award: Cornelia and Scott Tobey
