2008 and 2012 Bonds

In 2008 voters passed a 30 million dollar bond to upgrade parks and trails. Bringing parks into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was the 1st priority.  The 2nd priority was upgrading irrigation to a more water efficient, state-of-the-art satellite system.  Nine million dollars was dedicated for trails.

The 2008 Parks Bond Implementation Plan (linked below) was the blueprint for spreading the bond funds around to as many of Santa Fe's parks as possible, in all parts of the City. The upgrades included new turf, replacement of dead and dying trees, new shrubs and trees, and fencing and lighting.  Athletic features that received upgrades included ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts and soccer fields.  Walking paths, playground equipment, shade structures, furniture, drinking fountains, signage and dog facilties were also included in the upgrades.

In 2012 voters approved an additional 14 million dollar parks and trails bond.  Several new parks will be built on the south side of town including Phase I of a new regional park in Tierra Contenta.  Six million dollars of trails and trail connections will be built or improved based on the SF Metropolitan Planning Organization's Bicycle Master Plan.
