May 21, 2015 - PNM Employees Partner with City of Santa Fe to Beautify General Franklin E. Miles Park
Hundreds of PNM employees volunteer today to make a difference for nonprofits throughout the state
(SANTA FE, N.M.) – Today, more than 350 PNM employees across New Mexico will spend the half the day volunteering in various communities. Employees in Santa Fe partnered with the City of Santa Fe Parks Division to pull weeds, rake and pick up trash at General Franklin E. Miles Park.
“Caring is a core value at PNM, and our employees look forward to the annual day of service as an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment and caring for the most vulnerable and deserving in our communities,” said Pat Vincent-Collawn, PNM chairman, president and CEO. “In some cases our employees are able to accomplish in one day what it would take these important non-profit organizations weeks or months to complete. More importantly, working side-by-side with our community partners builds relationships and understanding that benefits everyone involved.”
Projects for this year’s PNM Annual Day of Service included:
Work at little league fields on the Navajo Nation, in Alamogordo and Silver City
Planting at the Albuquerque BioPark
Improving Santa Fe Parks
Wildlife habitat and invasive plant management at Bachechi Open Space
Painting of buildings in Albuquerque’s South Valley
Fire protection and forestry clearing in Ruidoso
Cleaning and beautifying elementary schools in Los Lunas and Albuquerque
Employees will also gather at places like Girl Scouts of Grant County, Roadrunner Food Bank, Cloud Dancers Therapeutic Riding, New Mexico Veteran’s Memorial and the Rio Grande Food Project. Today’s work is focused on the needs of each area and employees will complete work needed most by nonprofits.
With headquarters in Albuquerque, PNM is the largest electricity provider in New Mexico, serving 500,000 customers in dozens of communities across the state. PNM is a subsidiary of PNM Resources, an energy holding company also headquartered in Albuquerque. For more information, visit PNM.com.
