The Arts Commission is a nine-member board appointed by the Mayor. Commission members are charged with providing leadership by and for City government in supporting arts and cultural affairs. The Arts Commission recommends programs and policies to develop and promote artistic excellence in the community. Candidates for the Commission must reside in Santa Fe County and be actively involved in the arts. The Arts Commission is broadly representative of all fields of the fine and performing arts, but also includes representation from the business sector and larger community. Upon approval by the City Council, Arts Commissioners are appointed to two-year terms.

Art In Public Places Committee Members Wanted
The City of Santa Fe Arts Commission is currently seeking members to serve on the Art In Public Places Committee. Consisting of seven members, the volunteer committee meets monthly to discuss prospective public art projects, funding for projects and other issues dealing with public art.
Interested, engaged community members are encouraged to submit their qualifications for consideration. Individuals with expertise/knowledge in the areas of art history, architecture, landscape architecture or community planning especially encouraged. Membership on the committee is a four year appointment, with the expectation that members will consistently attend the monthly meetings as well as serve on various working groups as needed.

Panelists help review and score the many applications the Arts Commission receives each year through the Lodgers' Tax for the Arts and the Community Arts Development programs. Your insight and experience will help inform recommendations to fund a variety of programs throughout Santa Fe. Panelists must devote a few hours to reviewing applications and attend a meeting with other panelists to discuss the organizations who have applied.
