Councilor Christopher Rivera, Chairperson


Chris Ortega, P.E., Vice-Chair

Chris is a retired civil engineer with 30 years of design and engineering management experience, including serving for 7 years as the City of Santa Fe's Stormwater Manager, City Engineer and Interim Public Works Director. Prior to that, Chris was employed in various engineering and management capacities for over 20 years with the NM Department of Transportation and US Forest Service.  He is a commercial and instrument-rated pilot and has been flying out of Santa Fe since 1989, including as a mission pilot for 20 years with the Civil Air Patrol.  He has owned single engine aircraft, either in partnership or alone since 1992. He is currently a part-time Part 91 commercial pilot and volunteer Angel Flight pilot.

James Robins (Jim)

James Robins (Jim) has been an active pilot for over 50 years. He is a permanent resident of Santa Fe and bases one airplane at the Santa Fe Municipal Airport. Jim holds BA and MS degrees from Columbia University in New York. He previously worked as a professional journalist for The Associated Press and The Wall Street Journal. After journalism, Jim and his father, Charles, established The Robins Group, Inc. (RGI), a closed, family-owned private equity group of mid-sized manufacturing companies, which currently operates from offices in San Diego, CA, and Shanghai, China. Jim retired in August 2016 and transferred all RGI responsibilities to his younger brother, Jere.

Bud Hamilton

“Bud” Hamilton is a retired Procter & Gamble executive. While at P&G he held domestic and international senior executive positions in sales, marketing and general management from 1967 to 2003. His last role was Vice President Global Innovation.  In May 2005, he became an Independent Director of Domino’s Pizza, Inc. where he Chaired the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee until retiring from the board May, 2016. He attained his MBA from Harvard and has a B.A. in Economics from DePauw University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa.  Bud serves on the boards of several organizations in Santa Fe in addition to the Airport Advisory Board: Museum of New Mexico Foundation, Cancer Foundation for New Mexico (Board Chair), Lensic Performing Arts Center, and Santa Fe Community Foundation (Board Chair).  He has lived in Santa Fe since 2003 with his wife Valerie. They have 2 sons and 5 grandchildren.

Kevin Egan

Kevin Egan has had a forty-year successful business career including management and advisory positions with the Chicago Tribune Media, 3M Corporation, Transamerica Computer, Manpower and Goldsmith Agio Helms. Over the years, Kevin has held several private and public Board positions, including Personnel Group of America, Park Bank, and Phillips Aviation Advisory Board. The first company Kevin owned and sold was PrimeNet Data Systems in 1996. In 1998 Kevin invested in Rice Lake Air Center which provided fixed base services (FBO) and Part 145 maintenance services focused primarily on the Socata TBM 700, high performance turbine powered business aircraft. In 2006 Kevin formed Jet Center Partners and was awarded a contract to provide fixed base operations (FBO) at the Montrose/Telluride Regional Airport. Doing business as Black Canyon Jet Center, it soon became well known as a top customer service provider in the Mountain West. In 2016 that business was sold to Atlantic Aviation.

Kevin is a licensed private pilot and has resided in Santa Fe for the last 21 years with his wife that he has been married to for the past 52 years. Kevin has 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren.

John Elling, Ph.D., MBA

John is an Analytical Chemist by training and moved to New Mexico in 1991 to work at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In 1998 he left the Lab to start a biotechnology company and has been a serial entrepreneur and investor in Northern New Mexico ever since.  Outside of biotechnology, his business interests have included building several hangar buildings at the Santa Fe Airport.

John has been an active pilot since learning to fly hang gliders over 40 years ago. He is an active private pilot with an airplane or two hangared at the Santa Fe Airport.  He and his wife and two children are permanent residents of Santa Fe.
