The “Be A Buddy, Not a Bully” program is an anti-bullying campaign presented in the schools as a proactive measure by Officer Gerald Lovato.  In 2012, over 50 programs were taught to approximately 1086 children.

The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board is an outreach to high school youth, involving one officer attending board meetings and spending time in the schools with the students.

Teen Court is an alternative sentencing program for juveniles where they are adjudicated by their peers. Youth participate as the jury, attorneys and court personnel in order to give them an idea of how a real court is run. The sentences for minor infractions are real and usually consist of community service. Police Community Relations facilitates this program and in 2012, attended 27 events with over 2700 children.
