Mayor Javier M. Gonzales and the City of Santa Fe Arts Commission are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2016 Mayor’s Arts Awards. Now in its 25th year, the Awards honor individuals making remarkable contributions to Santa Fe’s world-class arts community.
This year’s recipients are:
- Francisco Benitez, painter
- Leanne DeVane & Amy Summa, Arts and Music Education Coordinators for the Santa Fe Public Schools
- Irene Hofmann, Phillips Director and Chief Curator at SITE Santa Fe
- Arlo Namingha, sculptor
- New Mexico School for the Arts, a statewide arts-focused public school.
In addition, Hezekiah “Zeke” Farrell will receive the Melissa Engestrom Youth Arts Award.
“This year’s awards once again highlight the diversity of artists and contributors in Santa Fe, by honoring those who create art as well as those who work to ensure access for all of the community,” states Mayor Gonzales. “It is my privilege to recognize each of them for their unique contributions.”
The selections are made based on careful consideration of community-generated nominations and shine a spotlight on the incredible work artists and others are doing in our community and the ever-increasing importance of the arts to Santa Fe.
