Information for HERS and WERS professionals certifying new home in the City of Santa fe

The City of Santa Fe adopted an update to the Residential Green Building Code on October 26, 2016.  Building permits that are applied for before March 1, 2017 may chose to submit uner either the old version or the new version.

Permits Submitted Under the Old Version of the Code

For the building permit application:

  • Preliminary HERS index of 70 or better for homes up to 3000 heated square feet
  • HERS index must go down 5 points for every additional 500 heated square feet or portion thereof
  • Provide a Home Enery Rating Certificate (HERC) of preliminary HERS index

To apply for a certificate of occupancy:

  • Confirmed or "final" HERS index of, or better than, required for building permit application
  • Home Energy Rating Certificate (HERC)

Permits Submitted Under the Old Version of the Code

  • HERS index of 65 or better for homes up to 3000 heated square feet
  • HERS index must go down 1 point for every additional 100 heated square feet or portion thereof
  • Provide the following documentation:
    • Preliminary HERC
    • Preliminary 2015 Building UA Compliance Report (2015 UA Report)

To apply for a certificate of occupancy:

 

  • Confirmed or "final" HERS index of, or better than, required for building permit application
  • Provide the following documentatation
    • Confirmed or "final"HERC
    • Confirmed or "final" 2015 UA Report
    • Confirmed or "final" Fuel Summary
    • Confirmed or "final" Emissions-REductions Compared to 2009 IECC Reqirements Report

Submittal Requirements

Applicant must submit copies of all documents required for buillding permit appilcation attached to each plan set and email electronic copies to the [bot protected email address] email.
