Galen M. Buller has served in the position of City Manager since November 2006. He was first hired by the City in 2003 as the Water Division Director and later promoted to Public Utilities Department Director.

Prior to joining the City of Santa Fe, Buller was an Assistant Professor at the University of North Dakota where he helped establish the Indian Studies Program and curriculum and taught courses in Native American literature and urban Indian studies. Buller was also an instructor at the University of Nebraska where he taught in the English Department.

Following his teaching career, Buller was employed for 20 years by Montgomery and Andrews, P.A., where he specialized in water and transactional law.

The Santa Fe City Manager is appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council to serve as the City’s chief administrator and oversee the City’s wide range of operations.
