Residential Curbside Recycling Reference Guidelines
Material Recyclables How to Prepare Non-recyclables
Aluminum Aluminum cans, foil, and pie pans Rinse and flatten, put in Recycling Bin 2 Don't put anything in the cans.
Cardboard Corrugated cardboard, wavy (wavy layer in middle) only. Flatten and tie into a bundle weighing no more than 50 lbs. and less than 3 feet wide in any direction. Place beside recycling bin (not in bin). No cereal boxes or non-corrugated cardboard, pizza boxes, or six-pack containers.
Glass Glass food & beverage containers of all colors Remove lids, food, liquid, and lead collars or cork covers on wine bottles. Put in Recycling Bin 1.  Do not mix with other recyclable materials No ceramics, PYREX, light bulbs, plate glass, window panes, mirrors, or drinking glasses. (No broken glass)
Newspaper Flyers & inserts are ok, along with office paper, junk mail, magazines, and catalogs. Put in paper bag, not plastic, along side of bin (not in bin). No phone books, neon paper, manila envelopes, cereal boxes, or six-pack containers
Plastic Plastic bottles only. No. 1 & 2 only. (All bottles have numbers on the bottom of container.) Remove tops, rinse, and flatten (saves room). Put in Recycling Bin 2. No plastic bags, yogurt/butter tubs, motor oil/chemical containers, or any other container that is not a bottle.
Steel Steel Cans Remove food or liquid, rinse, and crush. Put in Recycling Bin 2. No containers used for paint, flammable or hazardous materials.
  • Bin 1: Glass only
  • Bin 2: Plastic, Steel, Aluminum
  • Two bins are required. Bin 1 glass only. Bin 2 co-mingled. Save room and flatten plastic, steel, and aluminum.

  • Please do not use the bins for anything other than recycling!
