Fire Education Presentation

Fire Inspectors conduct public fire education presentations that include:

  • Fire extinguisher training
  • Fire and evacuation drills for all occupancies
  • Fire safety presentations for all ages

Many of the presentations the Fire Department conducts are in conjunction with the Santa Fe Public Schools and include personnel from the Fire Department’s Operations Division.

Curriculum
Kids Presentation
Public education curriculum focuses on home fire safety and fire safety for children because a majority of fire deaths in the US occur in single and multiple-family dwellings.

The United States Fire Administration provides additional fire safety information and educational materials.

Fire Safety House
Fire Safety House
The Fire Department recently purchased a Fire Safety House. This house is a fun, hands-on learning tool that teaches people of all ages what to do in the event of a fire. A non-toxic smoke simulator in the prevention unit creates the illusion of a smoldering fire.

Various features throughout the house help children learn to use a secondary escape plan. A heated door simulates a fire on the other side and helps children realize the possiblity of needing an alternative escape plan. The bedroom has a window with an escape ladder so children can learn to use it as a second exit.
