The Fire Department recently purchased a Fire Safety House. This house is a fun, hands-on learning tool that teaches people of all ages what to do in the event of a fire. A non-toxic smoke simulator in the prevention unit creates the illusion of a smoldering fire.
Various features throughout the house help children learn to use a secondary escape plan. A heated door simulates a fire on the other side and helps children realize the possiblity of needing an alternative escape plan. The bedroom has a window with an escape ladder so children can learn to use it as a second exit.
