Public Education & Outreach
Working to Inform
outlet pipe with frozen flow of dirty water

The City of Santa Fe Storm Water Management Division is working to develop a public education program to educate our residents on the impacts of stormwater pollution; efforts include the distribution of educational materials to the residents via community events and the Santa Fe Public Schools.

We are also working to develop the steps that the public can take to reduce pollutants in stormwater runoff. You may not have a stream running next to your property or a pond in your backyard, but that stretch of asphalt with concrete gutter in your front yard connects directly to the storm drains, inlets, outfalls, arroyos and the Santa Fe River. The Storm Water Management staff has created and will continue to create brochures, flyers, door hangers and posters that target specific audiences and our community with measures to reduce common daily pollutants. The Storm Water Management staff can provide stormwater training to you or your staff.

In addition, we air public service announcements (PSA’s) via television and radio and distribute educational materials to school-age children, the educational componet can even be seen at the street level by the general public with our storm drain stenciling program.
