Cathy Aten at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center

Currently, Santa Fe artist Cathy Aten has two works on display at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center.  The pieces, “Botany of Desire” and “Renaissance” are on loan courtesy of the artist and Eileen Braziel Fine Art.

Cathy Aten’s site specific work entails gathering earth from the chosen locations that transform the mundane into raw and intelligent minimal sculpture.  Aten incorporates the visual pleasure of shadows and the ever-changing shapes they create in play with natural and direct light.

Aten is a twenty year resident of Santa Fe, educated at Cranbook, and has exhibited work nationally.  She is in the permanent collection of the New Mexico Museum of Fine Art, Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Articles regarding her work have appeared in the New Mexico Magazine, THE Magazine, The Sun, Focus, Pasatiempo, and Trend Magazine.
