City Policy
The City has implemented a policy wherein incandescent bulbs are no longer purchased. In addition, a set of guidelines has been issued to all City employees concerning using energy efficiently.
It is also City policy that all vehicle purchases must be approved by the City Energy Specialist. This has resulted in vehicles averaging 12-15 miles per gallon being replaced by vehicles averaging 24 miles per gallon as well as the purchase of two electric vehicles for the City’s Parking Division.

Not only was the purchase price cheaper than a new truck, but annual savings from maintenance and fuel is expected to reach $1,600 per vehicle. Approximately 28.8 tons of greenhouse gas will be reduced over each vehicle’s lifetime compared to the vehicles they replaced.
