Property Tax Information
The New Mexico State Legislature in 2008 made it legal for buyers of affordable homes to pay property taxes on the value of their mortgage, not the total value of their home. If you bought a home through the city program, please follow the steps below to take advantage of the tax reduction. The paperwork must be filed by September 30, 2013.

Homeowner Steps:

1. Complete and sign the two forms below. An example of each form is provided for clarification.

Adjustment Form page 1 (example form page 1)
Adjustment Form page 2 (example form page 2)

2. Provide a copy of your Program/Resale Agreement. It must have the number from the County Clerk's Office showing it was officially recorded. This is usually a digital number down the right side of the page. If you do not have the final recorded copy of your Program/Resale Agreement, go to step 4.

3. Take the two signed forms and the Program/Resale Agreement to the County Assessor's office, located at 102 Grant Street, Santa Fe, NM.

4. If you need additional help for any reason, please contact Alexandra Ladd at 955-6346.

If you live in Santa Fe County and bought your affordable home through the County program, you should call 992-3060.
