The Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) program provides information, assistance, and recommendations to homeowners and landowners with property in areas where forest fires are a danger.
The Santa Fe Fire Department is proud to be one of the only fire departments in New Mexico to have two full-time positions dedicated to Wildland Urban Interface issues and
Wildfire Prevention.
Since 2010 the Fire Department has had a seasonal wildland firefighting hand crew sponsored by the Youth Conservation Corps to assist with fuels management in the Wildland Urban Interface and respond to wildland fires.
The
Wildland Urban Interface Specialist (WUI Specialist) and Wildland Superintendent conduct individual home assessments to evaluate your wildland fire risk and hazard and provide wildfire information for groups, fairs, and events.
To set up a home assessment or informational presentation, email the
WUI Specialist or call (505) 955-3901 (Work), (505) 660-3732 (Cell).
