The Radio System Support section is responsible for maintaining City’s land mobile radio system. This section plans, coordinates, directs, and implements solutions for City Departments and Joint Services Agencies.
Land mobile radio system management includes installation and maintenance of all City vehicle and base station radios, installations, maintenance repairs, and programming of trunked and conventional subscriber and system radios. Additionally, coordination of maintenance agreements for the radio control station and dispatch console equipment is necessary. Processing frequency requests in accordance with FCC regulations, management of the 800MhZ trunked radio system central controller, and management of the SIMS and System Watch databases are also required.
This section is also responsible for formulating and implementing policies regarding appropriate two-way radio communications, and proper communications equipment usage and operation. The Radio System Support section is responsible for ensuring that the City’s radio license agreements are current and properly executed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
