GENERAL PURPOSE

Coordinates the Green Communities design competition for City-owned property located near downtown. The competition will result in a design for affordable workforce housing that pushes the envelope on green building techniques.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the supervision of and closely with Office of Affordable Housing staff, Enterprise Community Partners, and

Frederic P. Rose Architectural Fellow.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (A position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties that may be found in a position of this class).

Researches and develops competition program. Coordinates advisory committee to give input on development of competition program

Oversees competition program panel selection. Recommends and ranks panel recommendations; initiates contact and confirms selected panelist’s interest; and reviews and approves recommendations for panel membership

Competition website development and Public announcements. Oversees development of a competition website, as well as maintains and updates the website throughout the competition. Works with a graphic designer to design the competition logo. Produces brochures, advertisements and other promotional materials as needed and assures continuity between website and brochures, etc.

Collects and logs registrations. Designs and manages the competition application process.

Responds to applicant’s questions regarding the competition submittal guidelines.

Evaluates submissions for compliance with application guidelines

Archives and catalogs submissions

Coordinates travel, meals, lodging and site tours for panelists. Oversees review of entries and manages selection process. Coordinates public and private receptions to view finalist submissions.

Coordinates the competition exhibition. This includes coordinating the hanging of the event, catering, advertising, hiring a photographer, and printing brochures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education and Experience:

High School Diploma

AND

Minimum of 25 credit hours in architecture, planning, or a related field.

2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Considerable knowledge of green building, including Architecture 2030 and Enterprise Green Communities guidelines. Knowledge of various computer software such as Word, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, AutoCAD.

Considerable skill in program/project management. Effective communication and organizational skills.

Ability to understand and learn the City of Santa Fe zoning code in reference to the project site and how these codes will guide what is possible to build at the site; work well with the public; work independently; and pay attention to detail

3. Special Qualifications:

Must possess a valid driver's license.

4. Work Environment:

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Will require local travel for the management of the project. Irregular and extended hours will be required.
