    GENERAL PURPOSE &lt;BR&gt;
    Performs working level maintenance, repair, and inspection of water and electrical equipment facilities. &lt;BR&gt;

    Works under the general guidance and direction of Water Equipment Supervisor &lt;BR&gt;

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class.     &lt;BR&gt;
    &amp;bull; Performs operational and preventive maintenance of electrical equipment, meters, pumps, valves, water purification, and fluoridation equipment and other related equipment as directed. &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    &amp;bull; Troubleshoots, tests, repairs all mechanical equipment and systems including water wells, booster pumps, miox, and fluoride systems. May assist Equipment Engineer in SCADA system and all associated electronic and radio systems repairs.&lt;BR&gt;
    &amp;nbsp;&lt;BR&gt;
    &amp;bull; Performs operations with machine tools, such as; drill presses, power saws, lathers, welding equipment, and precision instruments, such as micrometer, etc., when required. &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    &amp;bull; Performs housekeeping duties on assigned areas to maintain the facilities in a clean, safe, and operable condition. &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    &amp;bull; Directs apprentices, skilled, and semi-skilled workers in the maintenance, repair, and inspection of water, and electrical equipment and facilities. &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    &amp;bull; Responsible for proper operation and maintenance of all equipment in the Source of Supply facilities. Keeps supervisor informed of the proper operation and maintenance of all equipment and facilities. Recommends an adequate supply of repair parts for all motors, pumps, chlorinators, flouridators and electrical equipment. &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    &amp;bull; May assist in inventory and ordering of parts. &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    &amp;bull; Responsible for performing duties according to established safety rules and procedures. &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    Education and Experience: &lt;BR&gt;
    High School Diploma or equivalent; and four (4) years of experience in water operation systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    Additional Requirements: &lt;BR&gt;
    Must possess a New Mexico Water Systems Certification Level IV. Must possess a New Mexico CDL (B) and obtain a City of Santa Fe driving permit. Must be certified in CPR/First Aid within three months of hire. &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    Special Requirements: &lt;BR&gt;
    Must pass a drug/alcohol screening prior to employment and periodically thereafter. Employee may be called out in emergency situations. When contacted, the employee is expected to report to work unless there are special non-recurring circumstances. &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES &lt;BR&gt;
    &lt;BR&gt;
    Some knowledge of arithmetic. &lt;BR&gt;

    Ability to learn occupational hazards and safety procedures in water operations/maintenance field; to operate powered and manual equipment machinery and tools used in water field/plant operations; to establish effective working relationships; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to observe and adhere to safety rules and established regulations and guidelines. &lt;BR&gt;

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT &lt;BR&gt;
    Work is strenuous, requiring walking, standing, lifting up to 100 lbs., carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, speaking, hearing, good visual acuity including color, close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, occasionally in inclement weather and in a field environment; incumbents are exposed to confined spaces, loud noises, vibrations, chemicals, toxic gases and fumes, allergens, are exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, broken bones, burns, germs, bacteria.
