1. Does the Fire Department service fire extinguishers?

The Fire Department does not service fire extinguishers. There are several companies in the yellow pages under fire extinguishers that will service fire extinguishers.

Make sure that the company you choose has a valid Certificate of Fitness from the Fire Department.

2. Is open burning allowed in the city limits? How do I obtain a burn permit?

Open burning is allowed in the City of Santa Fe with a Burn Permit issued by the Fire Marshall. To obtain a Burn Permit you must submit a written request to the Fire Department three business days prior to the day of the burn. The applicant must provide the location, date, time, purpose of the burn, and means of putting the fire out.

There will be a $10 permit fee, except for registered non-profit organizations.
