Romero is currently the Director of the City’s Public Works Department where he oversees the Municipal Airport, Engineering, Parking, Storm Water, Streets, Transit, Recreation and the Parks, Trails and Watershed Divisions. Mr. Romero has held the Public Works position since 2004. Prior to 2004, Romero served as City Engineer. He also worked for 12 years as an Engineer at the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
“Robert has overseen major City projects including the construction of the first bridge across the Santa Fe River in over 50 years and the construction of the Santa Fe Community Convention Center on time and under budget. Robert has a solid reputation for hard work, focus, integrity and leadership and he is widely respected.” commented Mayor Coss.
If approved by the City Council, the appointment will become effective January 18, 2010.
Romero is a graduate of Pojoaque High School. He received a B.S. with honors in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University. In addition, he is a Licensed Professional Engineer.
